The Nuclear debate!

At the moment, preparations are being made for the great nuclear debate that is due to be held in the Indian Parliament very soon.this debate is not really the question of whether India should back out of a deal that has already been finalised and Inked.but rather it is to discuss all the parameters of the deal and its implications for India in the long run.
The coalition government in the center supported by the Left parties have issued an ultimatum of sorts.they have asked the ruling congress party and the Prime Minister of India,to put the brakes on the operationalisation of the deal and to have a 'full' debate in the Parliament.to give the Left parties its due, they are not asking the Government to jettison the deal altogether, but rather to have a full fledged debate in the Parliament which is where the Opposition is currently sharpening their knives.
Truth be told, the next week is going to be one rocky week for the government and may well result in early Elections.but lets be optimistic!the government being forced into a corner will have no option but to go for a full debate and the Left parties have pretty much said that the government can go ahead with the deal but only with consensus and that is going to be a very hard consensus to get.well, with the elections in the U.S coming near and near,it seems that George Bush will have to wait for his idea to get the approval of the Indian parliamentarians!what must be galling for the Bush administration is that if this deal is delayed in the Indian Parliament, and goes through only 3 years later or so,it is the next U.S president who will get the credit and not George Bush.tough luck, george!
