Russia says no to the Iran sanctions!

Russia not agreeing with the United states is not surprising and if they had agreed with them, then that would have made some eyebrows rise. Anyway Russia has made its position known publicly and Russia can count on both China and India to oppose the Iran sanctions. As things stand, the current economic sanctions on Iran and its banks do not need the other countries to support the enforcement of these sanctions. These are 'stand alone' sanctions, that is they are sanctions passed on by one country against another one and as such it is puzzling as to what Russia hopes to accomplish by going against these sanctions publicly.
