The nuclear deal may get inked sooner than later!


With things going the way it has been for both the United States and India,getting the Nuclear deal through had transformed from being in mutual interest to quite essential for the relationship between the world's oldest and the largest democracies.the current political government in India,the Congress may seem gung-ho on the Nuclear deal but to the Hoi-polloi of India's literate,they would have been extremely happy had this deal fallen through.as far as the literate citizens are concerned they regard this deal as a loss of sovereignty.to be fair,this deal is indeed highly intrusive so this opinion on their part is not exactly surprising.
But now that the deal is almost sure to get inked through,the question especially in the minds of George bush and Manmohan singh is,what next?although this deal may indeed be a highly intrusive deal,India should now concentrate on acquiring additional sources of fuel supplies and not solely depend on nuclear power in the future.what is more India should find some way of converting the huge amounts of thorium that it has and utilise that as nuclear fuel so as to insulate itself against any breakdown in the supply of nuclear fuel to its reactors.politics is cheap and dirty.you never know if the deal signed by the last government will be honored by the current one.after all,"there is no honor amongst......"
