The floods have hit the state of Iowa hard, forcing some 24,000 to lose their homes and another 20,000 to literally run for their lives. The floods are on account of unprecedented rain in the Iowa area which generally sees about a few inches of rain per year. But this time around, due to heavy rains coupled with thunderstorms, the Cedar river has risen far above the record mark it set the last time in 1929. It managed to reach a height of 32 feet, higher than the old mark by nearly 12 feet.
The Cedar river has flooded the drinking wells as well, thus limiting the amount of drinking water available to the citizens there. The wells that supply this water has been flooded and it will be quite some time before they are rendered usable again. In the meantime, with only one well still in use, it is time for the rationing to begin.
The forecast for the Cedar river area is not all that good with more rains being forecast. With most of the major levees having broken down, any more rain would only serve to make this far worse, transforming the Cedar river into raging flood waters. The fact is that despite disasters like Katrina and others, the infrastructure is ill-equipped to handle a massive exodus leave alone provide food, water and shelter for the remainder of the time needed. The question is that is Iowa planning to do in order to manage this crisis?

One survivor from the panama plane crash!

This is indeed a Christmas miracle and it truly is that in more ways than one. Can you imagine being on a plane and falling down thousands of miles and by sheer luck, you end up surviving. The fact is that she was hurt in the accident that killed all the others in her plane and by some chance she not only managed to survive the accident but also managed to remain alive for two days before the rescue workers reached her.
It just goes to show you how truly remarkable the human spirit is, it can endure untold hardship and yet, come out of it all on the top, breathing fine. Of course, the girl does not remember much and even if she did, she would be traumatised. Her recovery is going to take some time but she seems and sounds all fine, at least what they telecast on the news channels showed that. For her parents, it must seem like they have got a miracle on their hands, after all it is not every day that one manages to survive a fall from the clouds.

The zany weather!
Of late, the weather has been anything but normal. It does not rain when it is supposed to, it starts to get freezing and cold when it is supposed to be pleasant and to top all this, we get to hear the news that weather is having a drastic effect on the artic ice pack. At this rate, soon there would hardly be any artic ice left over. Is this change a result ogfwarming and is there nothing we can do? Is the ice age approaching us now?

Ohio flood much more worse!

The Ohio flood seems to be much more worse than previously thought.there are countless number of people who are homeless and there are many who have been reported missing.this in addition to the already 22 dead.this flood is just another one of those really weird weather phenomenon.
All over the world,we see weird weather, and the Ohio flood is very similar to that.what with snow in Argentina,to heavy downpour in a desert, the weather patterns are changing all over the world.the culprit is of course, greenhouse effect.we really have to do something about the fossil fuels and the way we burn them.it is high time that we sit u[p and take serious notice of this!
