Israel, fuming and angry!

Every time that the militants manage to attack a place or two, there is always a 'knee jerk' reaction from one or the other countries in that region. This is certainly true when it comes to Israel. It seems that all the middle eastern countries in that region from Jordan to Syria seem to embrace Hannibal's rule of 'an eye for an eye' more vigorously than any other civilization has done to date.

The recent attack on Israel by a suicide bomber has left Israel fuming and angry, to say that Israel is itching to get back at the militants would be an understatement. As it is, they have already launched a few Ariel strikes against Palestine and would love to do more. But what most of these countries that take part i such activities is the failure to realize that none of these attacks are doing any of them good.

For one, innocents get killed on both the sides, mothers are left childless,the investors would not want to invest in such a troubled area, the tourists would stop coming,the fuel prices would hike and as it is Israel has already stopped the supply of fuel to certain areas of Palestine.....none of this is good. True, I may have simplified the problem but what I have posted are based on facts and it is already happening!

The hazards of peace!

With the U.S president in the Mideast, trying to keep his tryst with destiny by brokering a peace deal with Israel and Palestine, gave a very nice speech regarding peace. It is not anything new, something that all those interested in brokering peace in the Middle east had already given. All that George bush had to do was to go back and sift through history and do a copy and paste [ providing he knows how to do it] and then give his speech.

But, I do have to say that going to the Middle east at a time like this certainly takes guts and on that, I think that we can all agree, that George bush does indeed have the chutzpah! As far as peace in the Middle east is concerned, that is not going to be easy at all, the Palestine issue was unduly complicated by the British when they vacated the place. Now, it is one big unholy mess and with no easy solution in sight, I cannot for the life of me see how Georgie is going to convert this visit into something of a success!

Lebanon on a simmering boil !

Lebanon is slowly but surely heading into the danger zone of a civil war as fresh clashes broke out between the lebanese army and the militant group Fatah islam.this islamic militant group is holed up in one of the many palestinian refugee camps in lebanon.ironically these camps were set up by the Lebanese for the palestinian refugees
fleeing as a result of Israel incursions.and now it seems that Lebanon may have bitten more than it could have chewed.what is worrying many of the security advisors of the current government is the rapid pace with which this new "intifadaa" is spreading across the multitude of refugee camps.it all started with the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr el-Bared,and recently a U.N convoy was hit as it was caught in the crossfire bewtween theLebanese army and the Fatah group.the third truce which was declared bewteen the two groups did not even last one whole hour before it was broken all over again.in all of this i should guess that Israel may be feeling a little smug as they had faced this militant groups many many times and Lebanon had always downplayed any objections the israeli's may have raised in the international fora vis-a-vis militancy!
