Bhutto all set to make a comeback!

Benazir Bhutto has already departed from Dubai for Karachi and is due to arrive here in the next half hour or so. Already the PPP supporters are all set to welcome her with a bang and are busy preparing for her arrival. It is quite evident that the ex-prime minister of Pakistan is still quite a popular leader and one can see it from the way that the preparations are being made to welcome her. This arrival of Bhutto is not what Musharraf had wanted. He had wanted the entire political crisis in Pakistan to be over before he welcomed her back. In simple words he had wanted the Supreme court to declare him the President of Pakistan before he welcomed Bhutto back. But as they are so fond of saying .'man proposes and god disposes' and whether Musharraf likes it or not, Bhutto is returning to Pakistan for good!

Pakistan Supreme court gives new life to Musharraf!

With the innumerable problems besetting the Pakistani president Musharraf, today, the Supreme court of Pakistan decided to let the presidential elections take place as scheduled thus giving a new lease of power to the current incumbent.this decision has surprised many as it seems to indicate that the law and order is indeed falling to bits and pieces in Pakistan.many see this as the Supreme court buckling under the pressure of Musharraf.but to be realistic, what other choices did the Supreme court have.

Because if they had nullified Musharraf's election bid, then he would pretty much have gone ahead and declared emergency/martial rule and it would have been the Supreme court that would have nailed the coffin on democracy forever.at least this way,the Supreme court has made sure that at least some semblance of democracy exists in Pakistan today.with today's decision the political deal between ms.Bhutto and Musharraf seems to be more definite and it is this sort of the 'eye washer' deal that is going to save Musharraf's skin in the end!

Benazir to return to pakistan soon!

Having managed to get one of the former prime ministers exiled again,Musharraf now has to deal with another ex-prime minister of Pakistan, the ever so crafty Benazir bhutto.
Bhutto may prove to be an even more tough challenge for Musharraf.going by the current Internet poll in Pakistan, pretty much every one in Pakistan is more popular than the general himself.naturally no one likes a dictator and it is high time that this general got the message and relinquished power.but like all dictatorships, that is easier said than done.
With the Supreme court, the press, the lawyers and now Bhutto on one side, things are getting sticky for the general.the bugle for his retreat has been sounded and as to whether he hears it or not, that remains to be seen.'absolute power corrupts absolutely' and one only has to look at the reasons that this general gave out for usurping power.he had mentioned that he was doing it to protect democracy in Pakistan.we all know how that went.now democracy has gone to sleep and dictatorship is reigning supreme in Pakistan.but for how long, that is the question every one wants an answer to.but by my guess, not for long!
